FBM KLCI Close Morning Session Firmer
Share prices on Bursa Malaysia stayed higher at midday Thursday on persistent interest in selected finance stocks such as Bumiputra-Commerce and Maybank, a dealer said.
Bumiputra-Commerce gained 12 sen to RM10.62 and Maybank rose two sen to RM6.77.
At 12.30pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia Kuala Lumpur Composite Index rose 1.49 points to 1180.98. It had opened 0.41 point lower at 1,179.08.
The dealer said investors were still cautious and might take profit especially after a good run over the past several weeks.
The Finance Index went up 43.55 points to 9,658.27, the Plantation Index increased 9.88 points to 5,769.89, the Industrial Index rose 5.66 points to 2,609.00 and the FBMEmas Index advanced 22.57 points to 7,991.99.
The FBM Top 100 added 15.81 points to 7,761.70 but the newly-introduced FTSE Bursa Malaysia ACE Index declined 21.87 points to 4,173.26.
Advancers led decliners by 321 to 214 while 228 counters were unchanged and 464 others untraded.
Leading the actives, KNM Group was unchanged at 84 sen while SAAG and Jotech dropped half a sen each to 26.5 sen and nine sen respectively.
Among heavyweights, Sime Darby dipped three sen to RM8.30 and Tenaga went up one sen to RM8.15 while IOI Corp and Axiata remained flat at RM5.15 and RM2.92 respectively.
KLCI Futures End Morning Trade Higher The FTSE Bursa Malaysia Kuala Lumpur Composite Index futures ended the morning session higher Thursday, a dealer said.
At noon break, the August 2009 and September 2009 contracts increased 1.5 points each to 1,178.5 and 1,175.5 respectively while March 2009 rose 1.0 points to 1,159.0. Volume stood at 3,159 lots while open interest at 21,066 contracts.
The underlying index was up 1.49 points to 1,180.98 at 12.30pm.
