Among the major gainers, Sime Darby added 20 sen to RM7.15, BCHB, Petronas Dagangan and IJM Corp rose 10 sen each to RM9.05, RM8.10 and RM5.65, respectively, while Public Bank gained 5 sen to RM8.75.
Meanwhile, MAHB added 8 sen to RM3.80, IOI Corp and DRB-Hicom gained 4 sen each to RM4.68 and RM1.05, respectively, and Shell rose 20 sen to RM10.50.Other gainers included Nestle, MPI, Jaya Tiasa, Fraser & Neave, United Plantations and DutaLand. The top loser was Lafarge Malayan Cement that fell RM1.20 to RM5.30; DFZ Capital lost 34 sen to RM3.90, Haisan down 12 sen to 60 sen, while Kwantas, Tanjong and Genting fell 10 sen each to RM2.10, RM13.50 and RM5.90. Frontken was the most actively traded stock this morning with 87.65 million shares done. It was unchanged at 33 sen.
Other actively traded stocks included Olympia, Saag, DutaLand, Transmile, KNM Group, Tebrau Teguh and Perisai Petroleum.Crude palm oil futures on the Bursa Malaysia derivatives exchange added RM2 to RM2,522 per tonne for August delivery and up RM5 to RM2,526 per tonne for July delivery.Light, sweet crude oil fell 48 cents per barrel to US$67.96 in electronic trading as at 1pm today.
Over at the regional markets, Japan's Nikkei 225 added 0.97% to 9,862.50, the Shanghai Composite Index rose 0.4% to 2,764.86 while the South Korean Kospi was up 0.21% to 1,397.70.Meanwhile, the Singapore Straits Times Index fell 1.03% to 2,371.66 and Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index slipped 0.48% to 18,590.55.
