Market Shares Technical Rebound After 3 Days Losses
Share prices on Bursa Malaysia were firmer at close Tuesday amid improved sentiment buoyed by the uptrend in regional markets & overnight Wall Street gains.
The benchmark FBM KLCI recorded its first gain after three straight days of losses as investors generally believed that a sustainable economic growth could be possible.
Market breadth was positive with gainers leading losers 335 to 239. Volume however contracted to 446 million shares worth RM689 million from 477 million shares valued at RM892 million Monday.
The FBM KLCI added 4.76 points or 0.38% to 1,260.42 points, slightly below the day’s highest level of 1,261.45. The index opened 2.73 points higher and at the day’s lowest level of 1,258.39 points. Trading band was only 3.06 points.
Of the 30 components of KLCI, 20 closed in the positive territory, 4 ended lower while the remaining 6 settled unchanged. Volume for the 30 component stocks was 60.525 million shares worth RM354.070 million
The ACE Market volume was down to 33.547 million units worth RM8.162 million from 42.692 million units worth RM9.863 million .
"Selling however was seen on small cap technology stocks," said dealers.The FBM Emas Index added 31.14 points to 8,400.27 and the FBM Top 100 Index rose 30.18 points to 8,220.64.
