Bursa Bluechips Pause At Midday
Share prices on Bursa Malaysia stayed lower at midday Wednesday as most heavyweights took a breather and pulled the key FTSE Bursa Malaysia Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (FBM KLCI) marginally lower by 0.08 per cent, dealers said.
Of the heavyweights, Genting lost six sen to RM6.44, CIMB Group fell four sen to RM14.66 and MMC Corporation declined three sen to RM2.42.
At 12.30pm, the FBM KLCI fell 1.02 points to 1,343.35, after rising as high as 1,347.61. It had opened 0.93 of a point higher at 1,345.30.
Pos Malaysia, which plans to revise stamp charges in July and review the salary of postmen, was the second most gainer. It rose 32 sen to RM3.18.
The Finance Index was down 3.36 points to 12,125.70 and the Plantation Index slipped 0.61 of a point to 6,530.85 but the Industrial Index improved 4.27 points to 2,748.01.The FBM Emas Index lost 1.98 points to 9,134.05 and the FBM ACE Index shed 7.20 points to 4,265.24, but the FBM70 went up 8.53 points to 9,172.08.
Decliners led advancers by 342 to 291 while 290 counters were unchanged, 439 untraded and 34 others suspended.Overall volume stood at 556.515 million shares worth RM667.187 million. Leading the actives, Affin Holdings-WC rose 2.5 sen to 20 sen, KNM Group perked up half a sen to 77.5 sen and Supermax-CB gained 6.5 sen to 21.5 sen.Iris, the third most active counter, edged up one sen to 16 sen. The company has been awarded a RM115.22 million contract by Prasarana Negara to install an automatic fare collection system for the Kelana Jaya and Ampang LRT lines.
