FBM KLCI Futures >>> Daily Preview, Technical Analysis

Preview

Expect futures to trade range bound with an upward bias in tandem with rising Asian and European markets after European policy makers communicated that they will maintain interest rates at a record low for an extended period of time to stimulate further growth. US market was closed last night in conjunction with the Independence Day holiday. Jobless claims figures due to release later tonight will be closely watched for indication of economic strength.

In the local front, FBM KLCI gained 0.12 points to settle at 1771.34. The local index managed to post some gains in tandem with advances in most global markets, albeit lackluster trades.

Leading leaders were stocks from the plantation and banking industries, namely Kuala Lumpur Kepong, IOI Corp, CIMB, Maybank, Public Bank, and Hong Leong Bank. Futures now trade at a further premium of approximately 4 points away its underlying cash index.

Technicals
Futures prices hiked 0.31 percent to close at 1775.50. Trading activities formed a white spinning top, a depiction of indecisiveness amongst investors. Regardless, prices still managed to close firmly above its 20, 50, and 100 day moving averages, which imply that strength was still in tact. Hence, expect prices to further its bullish movement today as MACD indicator pointed towards a buy strategy as well.

Support and resistance can be eyed at 1765 and 1785 respectively.

Strategy
Traders may long with a stop on or below 1765.

FKLI to test 1720/17 Support soon

Market Previews
Locally, the FBM KLCI shed 0.55 percent to settle at 1728.64. Losses were in correlation with faltering bourses around the globe which were led by the steep sell-off in Chinese shares. Stocks in China extended a bear market decline on concern that tight credit will deepen the nation’s economic slowdown.

Heavyweight losers locally were stocks from the consumer, banking and energy industries, namely UMW Holding, Hong Leong Bank, Maybank, Public Bank, CIMB, Ambank, Sapura Kencana, PETRONAS Gas and Petronas Chemical. Futures were still traded at a premium of circa 2 point above its underlying cash market.

Technicals
Futures prices wilted 0.49 percent to close at 1730.50. Trading activities formed an inverted black hammer, which is considered a bottom reversal sign. Moreover, prices settled below its 20 and 50 day moving averages for the second consecutive day, signaling price weakness. Hence, expect technical buying to push prices upwards today to test its 50 day moving average as bottom feeders take advantage of weak prices.

Technical indicators:

FKLI Daily Preview and Technical Outlook

Preview
Expect futures to trade lower today upon staging another record high yesterday. US stocks ended little change after violating fresh peaks yesterday despite stronger than expected retail sales data reported in April which indicates rising consumer strength.

Nevertheless, resilience in the healthcare sector managed to provide strong support against profit taking activities, whereby
investors took a pause after the recent rallies. Back home, the FBM KLCI traded steadily higher throughout the day, climbing 0.88 percent to end at 1787.90.

This marks the third all-time high closing price recorded since the General Election was concluded on May 5th. Gains in the local bourse correlated with strong performance in the US market which rallied to close at another record high last Friday. Amongst the outperforming stocks were Petronas Gas, Petronas Dagangan, and PPB Group. Futures now trade at a wider discount of approximately 6 points below its underlying cash market.

Technicals
Futures prices rocketed 0.73 percent before closing at a fresh record at 1782. The formation of a white candle with a shaven bottom emphasizes the strong bullish force witnessed in the trading session. However, do expect slight consolidation on prices today as RSI indicator is showing sign of being overbought. Hence, do expect price direction to be uncertain whilst a break below its first support at 1775 will exacerbate selling pressure. As such, prices are expected to trade between a support and resistance of 1775 and 1795 respectively.

Intraday technical support & resistance for 14/05/2013
 1st support 1,775; 2nd support 1,765-60
 1st resistance 1,786-95, 2nd resistance 1,800

Strategy
Trade may short with a stop on or above 1795.

What is a Fractal Pattern?

What Are Fractals?

These basic fractals are composed of 5 or more CANDLESTICKS (or BARS if you prefer). The rules for identifying fractals are as follows:

1) A bearish turning point occurs when there is a pattern with the highest high in the middle and two lower highs on each side.

2) A bullish turning point occurs when there is a pattern with the lowest low in the middle and two higher lows on each side.

The fractals shown above are two examples of perfect patterns. Note that many other less perfect patterns can occur, but the basic pattern should remain intact for the fractal to be valid.

NOTE : What needed be on Friday is a similar looking candlestick like the one closing on Thursday but a little lower in prices. Please be reminded that there is no guarantee the GE13 factor will not be able to break-up the Fractal pattern. But if you remove the GE13 from the equation, chances of a trend reversal is very enhanced.

Can it happen? How the hell would ZL knows? I'm only a techie not GOD !!!

GOOD LUCK

How To Choose A Futures Trading Broker

10 Tips On Choosing The Right Futures Broker

10 Tips On Choosing The Right Futures Broker
Here are 10 tips on knowing how to choose the right futures broker for you.

1. Expertise

You should always aim for a broker who has strong knowledge in the futures market. When you are engaging with a broker, you are not only engaging his services to put in an order for you, you are engaging his expertise and knowledge as well. Therefore it’s important to ask a broker what knowledge or strategy of assessment of the market he has. For example, does the representative know how to use technical orfundamental analysis? Is the representative well versed with the industry? A broker with a strong expertise background may help you to spot opportunities as well as prevent you from making further losses when the market is against you.
But before assessing the broker, you will need to do a little research on how to analyze the market using different indicators and analysis. You can then ask some subtle questions or make comments to see how the broker responds.

2. Track Record And Reputation

A great way to determine whether the futures broker is right for you is to look at his track record and reputation. You can do so by checking with Bursa Malaysia. You can check whether there are any ethics complaints about the broker or whether there are any disciplinary actions taken against the brokerage firm. You will want to find out because if the firm has treated the clients with questionable conducts, they may treat you the same way in the future. You will want to look for behavioral patterns.
You can also do a check at futures forum and ask about the services of different brokers. However, do keep in mind that this serves as a guidance and not as an absolute reference, because these are just opinions of other individuals.

3. Regulations And Policies

Ensure that the broker you choose follow regulations and policies from the authority, which in Malaysia will be Bursa Malaysia Derivatives. The futures broker should have someone overseeing compliance issues and matters. Ask who is in charge of the compliance and check for the background of the person in charge. This is to avoid unwanted and unclear disputes where both the futures broker and client may suffer.

4. Speed Of Execution

Although brokers have live streaming quotes on their trading platform, the question is still how fast can your representative execute your orders of entering into a position? Speed of execution is important especially if you are a day trader or using a 5 minutes chart. You will want the broker to lock in your position as soon as you give a clear order.

5. Commission Rates

Commission rate is one of the main considerations for choosing a futures broker, and even more so if you are trading a significant volume. However, know that although commission rates may vary among brokers, it is not necessary to choose the broker with the cheapest rate. Some brokers may charge a high commission rate if they are providing outstanding performance and services. But the performance and services should reflect the percentage of higher commission asked for. Of course this factor also depends on your own personal level of experience and level of involvement of trading futures.

6. Ease Of Accessibility

Find out how easy can you access your brokers. Especially when the market is busy and volatile, many traders are expecting to profit movement of the market. During then, will the broker firm have enough futures representatives to take your orders? If not, you may be missing on opportunities or losing more money than you should.

7. Honesty

It is extremely important that futures brokers have this trait of honesty. This is because brokers make commissions for every order that you trade. Thus, the more trades you place, the more money the broker gets. Therefore, be careful of brokers who are trying to push too hard for their own greed. Avoid the high sales pitch from these brokers and make sure they have your interest in mind.

8. Tools And Value Added Services

Find out what are the free services the futures broker is offering. Some may offer certain forms of free research, news, software, information, education and analysis tools. These value added tools and services are important as they will help you to cut short your learning curve very much as well as have a competitive advantage over other traders.

9. Customized Customer Service

Assess how the broker handles customer service. Every trader has different requirements of trading. Some are more risk averse than others. Some are looking at shorter terms of investing than others. Can the futures broker cater to your customized needs? Explain to the firm what are your expectations and requirements and check if they are able to provide the customized services you demand.

10. Chemistry

Some may find this a crucial point. Bear in mind that futures investing is a long term endeavor. Finding a comfortable broker is key in communicating. This is because communication can mean a difference in building your wealth or having your losses.

FKLI Daily Market Commentary >>> FKLI

FKLI Daily Technical Analysis
The FKLI spot month contract expired unchanged but the benchmark index closed solidly higher due to market sentiment lifted from the 2013 Budget announced on Friday. At the close, the FKLI price was unchanged to 1,633.5.
As we can see in the chart above, the FKLI price had tested the resistance line as drawn in the chart but it failed to break above the resistance line. However, we should monitor closely if the price is able to break and closes above the resistance line, it will rise further and the previous high level will be monitored. Otherwise, it will fall back if the price is unable to break above the resistance line.
Referring to the MACD indicator, the MACD line just crosses above the signal line where the positive sentiment may be building up. Meanwhile, MACD histogram just building up in the positive zone. As always, intraday support and resistance levels will be eyed.

FKLI >>> Market Commentary / Technical Outlook 27 Sept 2012

FKLI Daily technical analysis:
The FKLI spot month contract ended slightly higher on Wednesday, which was followed the gain in cash market despite weakening in the external market did not affect much on the price. At the close, the FKLI price was up 1.5 pts or 0.09% to 1,618.
Based on the daily chart, another positive candle was formed on Wednesday where it indicated that mild buying interest remains supported the FKLI price. During the trading session, price had tested again the resistance line but it was unable to break above that resistance line as drawn in the chart. Our review remains unchanged, where the price could be trading in between the range of 1,587- 1,620 level. However, if the price is able to break either way, a new direction may be established.
Referring to the daily MACD indicator, it signals that market sentiment remains negative and the upside potential may be limited. However, the alternative MACD 6,12,6 (Short parameters) tells a different story. Refer to chart below ........

As always, intraday support and resistance levels will be eyed.

FKLI Bears Threaten The Alternative Supports

FKLI Daily technical analysis:
The FKLI spot month contract closed slightly higher which was in tandem with the gain in FBMKLCI despite regional markets weakened did not affect much on local market sentiment. At the close, the FKLI price was up 3.5 pts or 0.21% to 1,649.

From the daily chart, a long positive candle formed with long upper wick where it indicated that price had been pressured when it hit the intraday highest level. As we can see in the chart, price had created a new high which is 1,655, but it was unable to stay above that level. During the trading session, price opened lower but later it managed to bounce up from the intraday lowest level and closed above the uptrend support line. As usual, the uptrend support line will still be monitored and if the price is able to rebound from that level, it may challenge the resistance line again. However, if the price breaks and closes below the uptrend support line, it may fall further.
Referring to the MACD Histogram, it is building up in the negative zone while the MACD indicator do not provide a clear signal as the lines are moving flat. However, we still need to monitor closely the change in MACD line in the coming days. As always, intraday support and resistance levels will be eyed.

Tweezers Proved It's Resistance Potency Last Friday
MACD 6,12,6 concurred with Dead Cross
The FBM KLCI dropped 6.83 points on Monday but the FKLI almost double that with a 13 points loss. This is due to the premium/discount factor in index futures trading albeit with a little exuberance from the bears. Given the opportunity, the bears may further aggrevate the selling by pressuring the FKLI into deeper discount.

FKLI Previews And Technicals 05 Apr 2012

Expect futures to trade lower today after a poor performance in the overnight US markets. Markets were spooked after the Fed’s declaration on monetary was deemed to hurt the global recovery, on top of this, a poorly received Spanish bond auction indicated the euro-zone debt crisis is still in murky territory.

Back home, FBMKLCI retreated below 1600 level to settle at 1599.27, down 0.46 percent. The index traded gradually lower throughout the day as investors priced in the affect of less monetary stimulus in the US. Banking counters CIMB and Maybank weighed heaviest on the index. Market sentiment remains in negative territory with futures discount to the underlying cash widening to circa 8 points.

Technicals
Futures settled at 1591.5, down 0.72 percent. Futures upwards momentum has been halted as investors concerns about the global economic recovery resurfaced after the Fed announced another round of quantitative easing was unlikely. Prices fell below major psychological level of 1600 in early trade, and quickly disintegrated to settle at its low of the day. MACD on the verge of a bearish crossover, whilst investors continue to stay sidelined as they weigh up the prospect of a world without monetary stimulus.

As such, FKLI intraday support and resistance levels pegged at 1578 and 1596 respectively.

Intraday Trading Strategy
Aggressive trade may short with a stop on or above 1596.0

FKLI Preview / Technical Outlook 29 Mar 2012

Preview
Expect futures to trade with a downward bias after a decline overnight in the US markets. Durable goods data came in weaker than expected which deflated investor’s confidence as well as a sharp fall in US crude prices, which may indicate a faltering economic recovery. Back home, FBMKLCI settled at 1583.75, down 0.27 percent. The index traded gradually lower throughout the day as a consequence of a lack of fresh leads as well as light profit taking activities. Banking giant CIMB was once again the leading lag on the index followed by IOI and Tenaga. Market sentiment remains positive although futures premium over the underlying cash was cut to circa 1.5 points

Technicals
Futures finished the day at 1585.5, off by 0.41 percent. Investors took the chance to book profits after prices climbed on Tuesday on the back of encouraging news from the Fed.

Trading was depicted by the formation of a short-bodied black candle as prices set back into consolidation mode whilst closing the gap-up made on Tuesday’s opening. MACD resumes its bearish divergence course. As such, support and resistance levels pegged at 1578 and 1588 respectively.

Overnight Leads
U.S. stocks declined on Wednesday as sliding oil and metals prices gave investors a reason to sell commodity-related shares.

Strategy
Aggressive trade may short with a stop on or above 1588.0
