FBM KLCI closes higher on late buying, Genting Bhd, IOI Corp


Late buying of index-linked stocks enabled the FBM KLCI to close today in positive territory, underpinned by fund buying of Genting Bhd and IOI Corp.
At the close, the FBM KLCI was up 2.44 points or 0.14% to 1,769.16. Turnover was 2.11 billion shares valued at RM2.07bil. There were 588 gainers, 271 losers and 263 counters unchanged.
The KLCI fell into the red in the later part of the afternoon in the absence of strong corporate newsflow and leads from regional markets. However, the broader market was firmer, with buying of smaller capitalised and lower liners.
Genting Bhd rose 18 sen to RM10.76, pushing up the KLCI by 1.43 points. Petronas Dagangan rose 32 sen to RM25.12, Petronas Gas 14 sen to RM22.04 and UEM Land four sen to RM3.17.
Among the banks, Hong Leong Bank rose 26 sen to RM14.30, HLFG 16 sen to RM15.56, AMMB nine sen to RM7.24 and RHB Cap two sen to RM8.81. Public Bank fell 10 sen to RM16.60 and CIMB shed one sen to RM8.33.
The ringgit continued to lose ground against the US dollar, slipping to 3.0220 from the previous close of 3.0139.

Bursa ends 2012 at all time high

BSKL ends 2012 with a bang

The FBM KLCI finished 2012 with a 10.34% gain to close at an all-time high of 1,688.95 as election concerns, defensive trading and high cash holding continued to dominate the equity scene in Malaysia. For the day, the local bourse was up 7.62 points on volume of RM1.31bil shares.
The KLCI's gains were mostly done in the last 15 minutes of trading on selected key blue chip stocks.
The barometer index FBM KLCI rose 10.34% compared to 1,530.73 recorded on Dec 30, 2011.
The Industrial Index improved 30.23 points to 2,795.79, the Plantation Index gained jumped 213.35 points to 8,314.11 and the Finance Index advanced 36.06 points to 15,357.24.
The FBM Emas Index was 47.69 points higher at 11,438.14, FBMT100 surged 51.80 points to 11,302.39, FBM Mid 70 Index gained 60.36 points to 12,334.14 and the FBM Ace Index rose 7.89 to 4,214.15.
Total volume eased to 834.802 million shares worth RM1.314bil from 853.829 million shares valued at RM1.276bil last Friday.

BURSA MALAYSIA CLOSING MARKET REPORT 28 OCT 2011

FBM KLCI Uptrend Sustain

The FBM KLCI index gained 10.89 points or 0.74% on Friday. The Finance Index increased 0.97% to 13420.59 points, the Properties Index up 0.46% to 966.84 points and the Plantation Index rose 0.03% to 7494.68 points. The market traded within a range of 10.05 points between an intra-day high of 1488.20 and a low of 1478.15 during the session. 


Actively traded stocks include HIRO-WA, HARVEST-WA, GPRO, HARVEST, MBFHLDG-WA, TIMECOM, HIRO, HUBLINE, SAAG and RAMUNIA-WA. Trading volume increased to 1877.90 mil shares worth RM2295.28 mil as compared to Thursday’s 1877.17 mil shares worth RM2413.17 mil. 
 

Leading Movers were CIMB (+18 sen to RM7.46), GENTING (+30 sen to RM10.60), MAYBANK (+6 sen to RM8.35), PETCHEM (+10 sen to RM6.41) and SIME (+5 sen to RM8.90). Lagging Movers were IOICORP (-12 sen to RM5.14), UMW (-7 sen to RM6.59), DIGI (-10 sen to RM31.50) and YTL (-1 sen to RM1.51). Market breadth was positive with 470 gainers as compared to 338 losers.
